If an alien arrived on planet earth today, seeking to discover the greatest foreign Premier League striker of all time, the answer would be Sergio Aguero.
The Man City star now has more goals than any other overseas player in the English top-flight thanks to his latest hat-trick against Aston Villa on Sunday.
Sergio Aguero is now the highest scoring overseas player in Premier League history
He climbs above the great Thierry Henry, and according to some, that settles the debate: Aguero is officially better than the Arsenal legend.
Luckily, we’re not aliens. We don’t need stats to inform our decisions. We have eyes.
And for anyone who was fortunate enough to watch Henry play, there’s no debate at all.
It’s a similar argument to the age-old Lionel Messi vs Cristiano Ronaldo question. It depends what you’re into, beauty or effectiveness?

Henry, like Messi, had both. Not only was he responsible for so many goals, including assists, he was a joy to watch.
The Frenchman had a swagger and audacity about him which, you could argue, hasn’t been matched since.
He was one of those rare players who did things just because he could and others couldn’t, for the simple joy of entertainment.
Wrong-foot passes, fancy flicks, mazy dribbles, and through-balls that would make Kevin de Bruyne jealous – that’s what sets Henry apart.
Henry was just so much better than everyone else in his prime
Whereas Aguero, like Ronaldo, is just goals – and that’s fine, given a striker’s job is primarily to hit the back of the net.
Aguero has to be up there among the greatest Premier League players of all time, there can be no doubt. He’s incredible at what he does.
But watching Aguero doesn’t feel the same way it did watching Henry, which had a certain magic to it.
Here’s the thing – Diego Forlan scored more goals than Ronaldinho in LaLiga in the 2004/05 season, but we all know who the best player in the world was that year.
And if someone offered you a ticket to watch Henry or Aguero in their prime, which one would you take?
