Angry Barcelona fans gathered outside the clubs offices in Spain to call for president Josep Maria Bartomeu to resign over the devastation felt by Lionel Messi’s request to leave.
Luis Suarez and former captain Carles Puyol showed their support for Messi after the club confirmed the rumour their top scoring player wants out this summer.
Barcelona fans are desperate for Messi to stay
Most Barcelona fans have turned on Bartomeu
“Respect and admiration, Leo. All my support, friend,” Puyol, who skippered the club to Champions League success in 2006 and 2009 and won it again in 2011.
This prompted current teammate Suarez to reply by tweeting a clapping emoji.
Suarez, also 33, has apparently been told he can leave as he is not in new manager Ronald Koeman’s long term plans.
Respeto y admiración, Leo. Todo mi apoyo, amigo.

Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are among the front runners to sign Messi, who is planning to activate a clause which allows him to terminate his contract at Camp Nou.
Bartomeu has come under increasing pressure since Barcelona conceded the LaLiga title to Real Madrid and suffered a humiliating 8-2 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-finals last season which devastated Messi.
Barcelona fans and TV crews were stationed outside the club’s offices on Tuesday
Following Messis transfer bombshell on Tuesday, Barcelona fans were heard shouting Bartomeu resign! outside the clubs headquarters.
Some supporters were also seen holding and wearing Messi shirts in solidarity with the forward, who has scored an incredible 634 goals for the club since making his debut in 2004.

And it wasn’t just Suarez and Puyol joining in on social media, as former Barcelona president Joan Laporta echoed fans feelings towards Bartomeu on Twitter.
Bartomeu and his Board must resign immediately.
“They have been undermining the morale of #Messi to save themselves from the economic and sporting turmoil they have created.
If they resigned there would still be hope that Messi would stay at #Barca.
Bartomeu i la seva Junta han de dimitir immediatament.
Han anat minant la moral de #Messi per salvar-se ells del desgavell econòmic i esportiu que han creat.
Si dimitissin encara hi hauria esperança que Messi es quedés al #Barça
