Rio Ferdinand ripped in Manchester Uniteds recruitment policy in the wake of their 2-0 defeat to Burnley on Wednesday night.
The Old Trafford legend, who won six league titles at the club, appeared a combination of angry and upset when speaking immediately after the full-time whistle.
Rio Ferdinand didn’t hide his emotion at the end of the game
Uniteds hapless performance allowed Chris Wood and Jay Rodriguez to score vital goals, with fans departing early to leave an almost empty stadium at full time.
The home supporters who did remain booed the final whistle.
BT pundit Ferdinand observed the scene and said: You said £600million spent on squad. On what? I dont see it out there.
I dont see that money, the recruitment, what has been bought? Theres nothing there that suggests to me that this is gonna be something thats laying down the foundations for the future.
Im sitting up here, if Im honest Im embarrassed. Its embarrassing to be here, not just about the team performing, but I dont see whats coming next.
“I don’t see a £600m squad out there! What has been bought?!”
“I’m sitting up here and I’m embarrassed!”
“People at the top need to make changes. You can’t defend this!” @rioferdy5’s blood is boiling as he reacts to Burnley’s first win at Old Trafford since 1962… pic.twitter.com/KOr2UyiZ5N

I dont see a pathway, I dont see a target being set on a wall and saying were gonna get to that and this is how were gonna get there. I just dont see it.
Put this result to one side, Im talking the recruitment and the actual building of a squad, the foundations that are being put in place for this squad now to go on and challenge at some point.
Not immediately, were realistic, in a couple of years maybe, build that squad.
But moneys been spent willy-nilly the past seven years, whats to show for it here? I dont see whats there.
You cant defend this. These young kids now in schools around the country are not gonna be wearing Man United shirts.
Solskjaer’s job could be under threat
Theyre not gonna be wanting to come here and support Man United based on what youre seeing out there. Its just not gonna happen.
Fans are walking out after 84 minutes, its an embarrassment. People at the top need to look and see this and actually make changes.
Put a plan in place that people can actually sit there and go, I can see where were going now.
I dont see it.
