The lockdown measures are easing all over Italy, as life returns to something approaching normal after the COVID-19 pandemic.
Although the Government imposed a ban on fans attending sporting events, the various regions – which operate in much the same way as States in America – are opening up individually.
Emilia-Romagna paved the way by giving the all-clear for up to 1,000 supporters in open-air events and now the Veneto region has followed suit, with an ordinance signed by President Luca Zaia.
There are still limitations, as everyone must remain in their allotted seat and maintain social distancing of at least one metre.
In theory, that would mean fans allowed into tonight’s game between Hellas Verona and Roma at the Stadio Bentegodi.
However, it might be too late to organise anything, and also depends on the Questura, which controls public safety in sporting events.
Udinese are the other Serie A club based in the Veneto region.
