Andrea Petagna scored against his old club Atalanta yet again and urged SPAL to “play every game with this mentality now.”
The striker equalised after a Josip Ilicic opener, then Mattia Valoti scored an impressive solo effort for the shock 2-1 win at the Gewiss Stadium.
“I left a piece of my heart in Bergamo and will always be grateful to the club and the fans, but we really did need to win tonight. There was no other choice,” he told Sky Sport Italia.
Petagna has now scored in all four Serie A games against his former club, for a total five goals.
“We have to play every game with this mentality now, because if we are to save ourselves, then we need to keep this intensity.
“Our performances have largely not been bad, we just failed to get a few results, but I hope that we can build on this and that the club can help us too with a few new signings to reinforce the squad.
“I haven’t received any offers, so I don’t know about that, but I am entirely focused on helping to save SPAL.”
