Andrea Stramaccioni is in negotiations to become the new coach of the Iran national team after his brief spell with club Esteghlal FC.
The 44-year-old was on the bench of Iranian club Esteghlal FC from June to December 2019, walking away after financial and contractual issues arose.
The former Inter and Udinese boss is already a seasoned traveller in his career, working with Panathinaikos and Sparta Prague.
According to Sky Sport Italia, Stramaccioni could be heading back to Iran to be the coach of their national team.
He’s not the only Italian in the running, as former Albania boss Gianni De Biasi is also in negotiations.
Their current CT is Dragan Skocic, who was only appointed on February 6 and hasn’t been able to make his debut yet.
That’s because the March games against Hong Kong and Cambodia were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
