Emily Thornberry has been rebuked by Labour MPs after she praised Jeremy Corbyn for standing up to racism at a Holocaust Memorial Day event.

According to the Jewish Chronicle, Ms Thornberry said: “It isn’t just the children in this room who have been educated, it’s the adults here that continue to be educated.
And we continue to be reminded, particularly the politicians amongst us, that we’ve seen it before and I hope we never see it again, that people think they can get votes by playing the race card.
I know that Jeremy will always call it out and I will always call it out. We are one, we are family.”
The row came as Sir Keir Starmer, the current frontrunner to succeed Mr Corbyn, on Monday warned that anti-Semitism had never gone away and remained stubbornly resurgent.
Pledging to work with Jewish leaders to tackle Labours anti-Semitism crisis, Sir Keir said that on day one of being elected he would demand an update of complaints against members and clear timetable for their resolution.
Writing for the Jewish News, the shadow Brexit secretary added that he would only be satisfied when former Labour members who quit over anti-Jewish hatred felt comfortable to return.
His comments were echoed by rival candidate Lisa Nandy, who claimed that the word Zionism had been horribly distorted and weaponised by some Labour members to the extent that it had become a term of abuse.
