English reports claim Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a €28m plus bonuses deal with Milan, booking Krzysztof Piatek’s medical within 48 hours.
According to The Sun newspaper, a transfer fee has been worked out quickly, with an initial fee of £23.8m (€28m) plus another £4.2m (€4.7m) in bonuses.
This is just below the €35m asking price, which is what the Rossoneri paid Genoa in January 2019.
It’s claimed a medical has been arranged for within the next 48 hours.
The hurry is because Spurs have no real strikers left, with news Harry Kane requires surgery on a torn hamstring tendon and will not be able to resume training until April.
Meanwhile, Italian sources are far more reticent about any agreement, insisting they still have to discuss the terms of the deal in greater detail.
Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio claimed this evening that Spurs had originally asked to take Piatek on loan, and were rejected outright.
The Premier League club then tried to include Juan Foyth or Victor Wanyama as part of an exchange deal, but again Milan were only prepared to deal in cash.
Piatek is a 24-year-old Poland international who hit Serie A in spectacular fashion last season, scoring 19 goals in 21 competitive games for Genoa.
It earned him a January move to Milan, but he’s found the net only 15 times in 39 appearances for the club.
With Zlatan Ibrahimovic arriving as a free agent and Rafael Leao developing, it seems as if Piatek is surplus to requirements at San Siro.
