Former Lazio forward Alessandro Matri has claimed the Biancocelesti ‘deserve to be in the fight for the Scudetto’.
Matri, who retired from football last week, has been impressed by Simone Inzaghi’s men this campaign.
The striker who contributed seven goals in 31 matches during a loan stint in 2015-16, revealed he didn’t expect such rapid growth for the Aquile.
“Lazio have built a very strong side,” he told Lazio Style Radio. “I didn’t expect they would reach the top so quickly.
“The Biancocelesti deserve to be in the fight for the Scudetto.”
Lazio sit second in Serie A, one point behind Juventus, and picked up the Supercoppa Italiana in December 2019.
