Four children have been killed in Sydneys west and another is in critical condition after allegedly being hit by an out-of-control 4WD while riding their bikes.The Daily Telegraph reports the children, all under the age of 12, were riding their bikes along Bettington Road in Oatlands, near Parramatta, at about 8pm on Saturday when a 4WD hit them just outside the Oatlands Golf Club.
The young driver of the Mitsubishi was arrested at the scene.
A NSW Ambulance spokeswoman told the newspaper paramedics treated seven patients but confirmed four had died. A 10-year-old boy has a critical head injury and has been intubated.
“A 10-year-old female has been transported to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead with pain to her arm and lacerations to head,” she said.
“A 13-year-old female who also went to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead with shoulder and hand pain and abrasions to legs.”
NSW Police are expected to issue a statement shortly.
