Juventus started life under Andrea Pirlo with an enthusiastic 5-0 win against Novara. ‘The lads are getting used to the new type of work, they have fun’.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored the first goal, before Aaron Ramsey, Marko Pjaca and a brace by Manolo Portanova made it five against the Serie C side.
“We are trying various solutions,” Pirlo told Sky Sport Italia after the match. “In the first half, we played with four at the back, it becomes three in the different phases.
“In the second half, we stayed with three, preparing different solutions.”
The new coach has stressed he wants enthusiasm at the Allianz Stadium in 2020-21 and admitted he needs a new attacker ‘as soon as possible’.
“The team must have it [enthusiasm], the lads are getting used to the new type of work, they have fun.
“I need an attacker as soon as possible, but the market is long, it will last until the start of October, we have time to work.”
The former midfielder was happy to see Ronaldo ‘move with ease’ and hopes to have the fans back against Sampdoria on Sunday.
“The hope of having them already on Sunday is still there, at least for a part of the stadium,” Pirlo added. “We need them, but so does all of Italian and European football.
“Ronaldo is fine, he showed it today and in the national team. He moves with ease.”
