President Enrico Preziosi revealed he couldn’t bring Juan Iturbe to Genoa because the medical report didn’t convince the doctors.
Iturbe was strongly linked with a move to the Rossoblu in January, but the deal fell through during the last hours of the transfer window.
“I was in Germany, but from what I understood, there were problems,” explained Preziosi during the United for the Heart event in Milan. “I won’t say physical, but some problems he hadn’t overcome.
“We didn’t take responsibility for a disease that he had carried for a long time. If the doctors are in doubt, I can’t do it. I’m very sorry.”
Iturbe played in Italy between 2013 and 2017, and the Argentine has played for Hellas Verona, Torino and Roma.
He is currently tied to UNAM Pumas from Mexico until June 2021.
