The man accused of shooting two Louisville cops is being held on $1 million bail as civil unrest in the city continues for the 122nd night Saturday.
Larynzo Johnson, 26, pleaded not guilty Friday to two counts of assault on a police officer and more than a dozen counts of wanton endangerment of an officer, a local CBS affiliate reported.
Johnson allegedly opened fire on a crowd of cops following a Kentucky grand jury decision in the police killing of Taylor, the 26-year-old EMT worker who was fatally shot during a botched raid at her home.
The officers were shot while working crowd control at one of the heated protests that erupted after the grand jury decided not to indict any officers for Taylor’s death.
On Saturday evening, roughly 500 demonstrators marched through downtown, the Courier-Journal reported. The crowd then thinned out as the city’s 9 pm. curfew approached.
Some protesters out after 9 p.m. were filmed running to First Unitarian Church, which has offered its space as a safe haven from police after curfew, as sirens wailed in the background.
At least four protesters have been arrested for violating curfew Saturday, with roughly 150 demonstrators arrested in the city since the grand jury decision.
