Melburnians will face another two weeks of stage 4 restrictions after September 13, Premier Daniel Andrews has confirmed.
But he said there would be modifications including starting the curfew one hour later, to run from 9:00pm to 5:00am.
Public gatherings of two people, or a household, will be allowed for up to two hours a day, which Mr Andrews said could involve exercising or spending time outside.
Mr Andrews also said there would be social “bubbles” for those living on their own.
“Singles, those who live alone, will be able to partner up with somebody else and they will be able to visit each other,” he said.
“The 5-kilometre rule will not apply but the curfew will.”
The Premier is outlining the state’s roadmap for the gradual easing of stage 4 restrictions in Melbourne and stage 3 restrictions in regional Victoria.
Before beginning to detail the plan, Mr Andrews stressed there was no “50-50 choice” before the Government on the rate at which it lifted restrictions.
“We can’t run out of lockdown. We have to take steady and safe steps out of lockdown,” he said.
More to come.
