The writer and director has shared the good news on Twitter

The Haunting of Hill House writer Mike Flanagan has revealed he’s working on a brand-new horror series.
Flanagan will once again be partnering up with producer Trevor Macy – who he is currently working with onThe Haunting of Bly Manor – to create Midnight Mass.
Posting on Twitter, Flanagan wrote:
Heading back to Vancouver to finish THE HAUNTING OF BLY MANOR, and to start MIDNIGHT MASS. 2020 is already shaping up to be pretty damn busy… can’t wait to show y’all what we’re up to.- Mike Flanagan (@flanaganfilm) January 4, 2020
Some eagle-eyed fans noticed Midnight Mass had previously popped up Flanagan’s other movies Hush and Gerald’s Way as a book and asked if the new series was based on the fictional book, which Flanagan seemed to confirm:
We first got a glimpse of the fictional book in 2016 flick Hush – where it’s author Maddie Young (played by Kate Siegal) is tormented by a masked killer while at remote home.
The book is shown on screen and small titbits of information can be seen, with the word; ‘but the 512 souls on sleep Crocket… church put Riley face to face with a terrifying secret’ visible.
An additional Easter egg features on the back cover where a fictional quote from a ‘critic’ called Trevor Macy says the book is ‘absolutely spine-tingling’.
The book is also in Flanagan’s adaptation of Stephen King’s Gerald’s Game.
Other than the brief glimpse we can spot in Hush, plot details are strictly under wraps at the minute.
However, a synopsis on IMDB reads: “An isolated island community experiences miraculous events – and frightening omens – after the arrival of a charismatic, mysterious young priest.”
Despite not knowing much about the new flick, fans are already pretty excited, with one commenting: “Every Mike Flanagan project I’ve seen has been top-drawer. Can’t wait to see what 2020 has in store. ”

While a second posted: “Oh man! Mike you are so awesome! Can’t wait to watch them both. I have watched Hill House four times and it never gets old.”
Flanagan has confirmed he is only directing one episode of the upcoming The Haunting of Bly Manor, but has said he will be directing every episode of Midnight Mass.
As yet, we have no release date for Midnight Mass or The Haunting of Bly Manor, but we’ll make sure to keep you updated.
