One of the key changes announced by Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews as he relaxed coronavirus restrictions was an expansion of Melbourne’s 5-kilometre limit on movement.
Melburnians can now travel up to 25km from their homes but, until November 2, stay-at-home orders remain in place, so permitted reasons for going out are limited.
The city’s “ring of steel” is also staying in place for now, so residents cannot cross the border of metropolitan Melbourne into regional Victoria.
Exemptions to the travel zone include work, medical reasons and care-giving.
