It’s here! Finally! The Premier League is back and it feels incredible.
After an enforced suspension of the beautiful game, football is ready to get going again – albeit not exactly as we know it.
The Premier League will return here at Villa Park on Wednesday night
Nonetheless, we cannot wait for the restart and are preparing to imbibe as many of the games as humanly possible.
Effectively we’re looking at huge tournament over almost six weeks, while there will also be FA Cup games too – how delightful.
You’ll not miss a single thing if you keep yourself tuned to the talkSPORT Network as we go above and beyond to bring you all the latest news, commentaries, and reaction.
But what are we looking forward to most as the season gets back under way? Take a look below.

Reshmin Chowdhury, Stuart Pearce and Sam Matterface will be back on talkSPORT with GameDay – just a little further apart
Awesome fixtures
You might not be able to get to the games yourself but there really are some cracking ones before the end of the campaign.
We’ve three in the first five days with Man City vs Arsenal, Tottenham vs Manchester United and Everton vs Liverpool.
After that we’ve still got a north London derby, Chelsea vs Man City, and Aston Villa vs Wolves.
Spurs will play Arsenal in the new stadium – just without fans
Five substitutions
The last time someone got this excited about substitutions Manchester United were taking on Bayern Munich at the Camp Nou in 1999.
No longer are we held to just three replacements, managers can now make an extra two.
This will help keep players fresh across the tournament-style Premier League finale we have in store for us.
It will also, no doubt, spark some intriguing uses – who will be the first to bring on five defenders to protect a lead?
Meanwhile, it will also help young players breakthrough – more on that later.
FIFA and the IFAB have agreed for five substitutions to be allowed to protect player welfare
Premier League creativity
Clubs across the country have no fans in their stadiums so are going to go to extreme lengths to put on a show.
Cardboard cut outs, video walls, goal music, flags and banners – we could see it all.
We’re looking forward to the barmy inventions we see as Premier League sides try to create an atmosphere in cavernous grounds.
Pictures of fans on seats have been seen in Germany
Dedicated celebration cameras
The days of Heung-Min Son doing a separate funky handshake with every single Tottenham teammate are over.
So are the pile ons, and the hugging we’re so accustomed to – but we’re reportedly going to see players directed to a special camera for celebrations.
What will we get? Cringey dance moves reminiscent of Bolo Zenden’s infamous dad dance? Or maybe just some solo salsa dancing with the corner flag?
Perhaps, though, players might just run back to the halfway like the ‘good old days’? Whatever happens, we can’t wait to find out.
Heung-Min Son and Dele Alli could need a new routine on Friday night against Manchester United
Wonderkids breaking into the first-team
We’ve already seen a number of talents burst onto the scene this year with the likes of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Brandon Williams, Steven Alzate, Mason Mount and Billy Gilmour all turning in fine displays.
With the new substitution rule we could see even more make debuts and get regular games until the end of the campaign.
Dennis Cirkin at Tottenham, Sheffield United’s Antwoine Hackford, and Crystal Palace’s Brandon Pierrick are just a couple of youngsters who might get minutes in the future and we can’t wait to cast our eyes over them.
Eddie Nketiah and Saka are set to play big roles for Arsenal
Returning superstars
Paul Pogba – back. Harry Kane – back. And they’re not the only ones either.
Manchester United and Tottenham also have Marcus Rashford and Heung-Min Son returning, Chelsea can welcome back Christian Pulisic.
We’re also excited to see Bournemouth’s David Brooks return, along with West Ham loanee Tomas Soucek.
Pulisic returns after injury
Bruno Fernandes
It’s not often a player makes such an instant impact at a Premier League club, let alone at one of the ‘big six’.
Fernandes form following his transfer to Manchester United from Sporting Lisbon in January was mouth-watering and we’re looking forward to see how he gets on with even more time to acclimatise to his new surroundings.
There is hope he will help to bring the best out of Pogba too.
Can Fernandes help fire the Red Devils in the top four?
