Considering Kevin Pietersen infamously called Matt Prior the ‘Big Cheese’, it’s only fitting we write a cheesy article about how they’re best friends now.
Like a sporty Gary Barlow and Robbie Williams, the feuding cricketers have put the past behind them as they join forces for talkSPORT’s coverage of the South Africa tour.
Pietersen and Prior are friends once more
Their relationship, which had once blossomed, seemed beyond saving following Piertersen’s fiery autobiography in 2014, in which he described Prior as a ‘Dairylea triangle thinking he was a brie’. Ouch.
“It was a sad time,” Pietersen wrote. “I had been friends with Cheese. Now he was slowly losing any sense of himself as he turned up the volume and made himself the main man of the dressing room.”
The comments followed Pietersen’s controversial axing from the England Test side after the 5-0 whitewash in the 2013/14 Ashes series.
Darren Gough, Mark Butcher and co on how to listen to talkSPORT 2’s England cricket coverage
Pietersen felt he was made a scapegoat, even accusing Prior and the rest of the leadership group of bullying.
They ran an exclusive club. If you were outside that clique, you were fair game for mocking, ridicule, bullying. Thats what those guys did.
But time is a great healer, and luckily for us, both men have realised there are more important things, like talkSPORT’s exclusive coverage of the South Africa tour.
Ahead of the third Test, they strode out into the middle together at Port Elizabeth and shook hands, just like old times.
Agree totally. I remember the good times – of which there were many – fondly. Onwards!

Pietersen tweeted: “Lovely to see @MattPrior13 this morning. Bygones! We won some amazing Test matches together and time is a healer.”
And Prior replied: “Agree totally. I remember the good times – of which there were many – fondly. Onwards!”
We’re not crying, you’re crying.
