Bruno Fernandes is said to be desperate to leave Sporting Lisbon and make his move to Manchester United in January.
Talks have stalled over the Portuguese midfielders switch to Old Trafford, with United and Sporting yet to come to an agreement over a fee.
Premier League rivals Tottenham wanted to sign Fernandes last summer but were unwilling to pay more than £39m
Reports in Portugal have suggested the deal is now in the balance, while other reports on Sunday claimed the deal could be off with United unwilling to cough up Sporting’s £68million asking price.
But Sky Sports claim all parties are still willing to get a deal done for the 25-year-old before the transfer window shuts.
And, with Fernandes keen to join the Red Devils, talks are reportedly expected to resume this week.
Sky have reported a deal worth £60m was close to being agreed with United paying £43m up front and £17m in add ons but Sporting are not totally happy with the structure of that deal and want more money up front.

It has been suggested Fernandes has played his final game for Sporting, having played in their 2-0 defeat to local rivals Benfica.
But as it stands, he is in the squad for Tuesday’s Portuguese League Cup semi-final against Braga.
Sporting head coach Silas has even admitted Fernandes deserves to be playing in the Premier League, and the 25-year-old midfielder has reportedly told the clubs hierarchy that he wants to go.
But Fernandes is not the only midfield man on United’s radar, with Leicester playmaker James Maddison, Aston Villas Jack Grealish and Ajaxs Donny van de Beek all linked with a move to Old Trafford.
