Adrian Mariappa struck a late own goal to cancel out Abdoulaye Doucoure’s strike as Watford drew with Brighton on the south coast.
Nigel Pearson’s men that took the lead after 19 minutes following a beautiful individual effort from Doucoure, who drove the ball towards the goa; and fired home from just inside the 18-yard box.
Doucoure scored a stunner but it was not enough for Watford to claim three points
The hosts came close to levelling after 69 minutes but Lewis Dunk could only head Mooy’s cross wide, but the Seagulls were rewarded moments later with an unfortunate own goal from Adrian Mariappa.
When Neal Maupay found fellow substitute Alireza Jahanbakhsh down the right, with the latter putting in a great cross which Mariappa turned into his own net.
