Former Milan sporting director Zvonimir Boban was allegedly close to signing Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric, but the deal reportedly fell through after his stormy farewell.
Marca claims the Croatia international and four-time Champions League winner with Los Blancos could have ended up at San Siro if Boban had stayed put.
The Spanish newspaper insists the 34-year-old and Boban were close to agreeing terms for next season, but the talks have stalled after the former director’s controversial farewell.
Modric, who contributed three goals and five assists in his 22 La Liga matches this term, could now end up at David Beckham’s Inter Miami in the MLS.
