The Minister of Health Roberto Speranza replies to the FIGC President Gabriele Gravina and claims ‘football is the last problem we can deal with’.
The FIGC chief revealed he was waiting for validation from the Minister of Sports Vincenzo Spadafora and the Minister of Health Speranza as he continues to fight for the resumption of football.
But Speranza underlined his intentions during the current coronavirus emergency and hit back at the hypotheses of a return to the pitch.
“The battle is not won,” Speranza told Radio Capital. “We must insist on assistance in the area, separating the COVID-19 from non-COVID departments.
“I say it with the utmost respect and as a passionate follower of football, but with more than 400 deaths a day, it’s the last problem we can deal with.
“People’s lives come first. The country’s priorities today are different. We will work so that at some point normal life can be resumed.
“Opening stadiums or schools would mean opening the taps of contact.”
