Barcelona talisman Lionel Messi calls on ‘spectacular’ Inter forward Lautaro Martinez: “You could tell he would become great, now he has exploded.”
The Argentine 22-year-old has been linked with a move to Camp Nou in recent months and a €111m release clause could be triggered to make sure the Blaugrana get their man.
Messi has claimed he doesn’t know about the ins and outs of the negotiations but has praised the compatriot and likened him to Uruguay international Luis Suarez.
“To be honest, I don’t know if there have been or are any negotiations,” Messi told El Mundo Deportivo. “I have no idea.
“I have already said it, Lautaro is an impressive striker. I think he’s complete and has many qualities. He is very strong, dribbles well one on one, scores goals, knows how to protect the ball. In the box, he will fight anyone, he resists, turns around and leaves on his own.
“Lautaro is spectacular, you could tell that he would have become a great footballer, now he has exploded and is showing it.
“He is very similar to Luis Suarez, they both move very well and have the same way to finish. We will have to see what happens and with the other names that are circulating on the market.”
