Parma director of sport Daniele Faggiano admits even they don’t know what will happen to Gervinho. “It’s a more complicated situation than it may seem.”
The controversy exploded just before transfer deadline day, when coach Roberto D’Aversa revealed the Ivorian had skipped training for three days.
A deal was done with Qatari club Al-Sadd, but the paperwork from them missed the deadline by minutes, despite Parma doing everything by the book.
Now they are unsure whether to lodge an appeal to FIFA, try to sell him elsewhere or bring the striker back into the squad.
“If I knew, I’d tell you,” Parma director of sport Faggiano told Tuttomercatoweb.
“I hope it all gets resolved, but it is not a very simple situation. Let’s just say that at this point, you’d have to ask him what he wants to do.
“I want to be very clear, Parma never tried to sell Gervinho and this was not our choice. We found ourselves in this situation and he needs to answer to that.
“It is also a more complicated situation than it may seem. People think Gervinho wants to leave at all costs, but there are many variables involved here and it’s not that clear-cut. We’ll have to wait and see what happens.”
It’s reported that the paperwork did not go through in time because Gervinho had last-minute doubts about signing the contract with Al-Sadd
