Peel police have charged a man with two previous convictions for impaired driving in connection with a fatal Mississauga collision Friday night that claimed the life of a 19-year-old man.
Peter Simms, 46, of Orangeville has been charged with one count of operation while impaired causing death, one count of dangerous operation causing death, and one count of failure to stop after accident resulting in death.
Police were called to the intersection of Mineola Rd. and Hurontario St. in Mississauga shortly after 12:30 a.m., Oct. 10, where three vehicles were involved in a collision. A man and a woman were treated at the scene for minor injuries and another woman was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A 19-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. The names of the victims have not been released.
Simms was seen fleeing on foot shortly after the collision, but was arrested and taken to hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
