The province reported 96 new cases of COVID-19 and one additional death in southern Alberta on Sunday, according to the latest update by Alberta Health.
This brings the number of active cases to 1,747 and deaths to 117.
There are a total of 6,253 cases in the province with 4,389 recovered. Seventy-one people are in hospital and 13 in intensive care units.
Jessica Lucenko, director of communications with the Alberta government, said the latest death was a man in his 70s in the South zone and was not connected to any outbreaks.
In the past 24 hours, 4,186 tests were completed for a total of 185,293.
To date, there are 115 active cases confirmed at continuing care facilities and 519 recovered. There have been 84 deaths at these facilities.
Of the cases linked to the High River Cargill meat processing plant, 58 are active and 893 have recovered. There are 82 active cases among workers at the JBS plant in Brooks and 520 have recovered. At the Harmony Beef plant, just north of Calgary, there are 17 active cases and 21 recovered.
