Tiemoue Bakayoko is prepared to halve his salary in order to force a return to Milan, it’s reported, but Chelsea’s €20m asking price is a problem.
The midfielder turns 26 later this month and returned to Stamford Bridge following a disappointing loan spell with Monaco.
He had been on loan at Milan in 2018-19, but the clubs could not agree on a transfer fee.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Bakayoko is now so desperate for a return to Milan that he has offered to cut his wages in half.
Considering he currently earns €6m per season at Chelsea, that is a huge saving for the Rossoneri.
However, the transfer fee is still a problem, as while the English club are asking for €20m, the offer from San Siro remains at most €15m.
There are alternatives, for instance allowing him to move on loan with obligation to buy, therefore spreading out the cost of the operation.
Chelsea spent €40m to sign Bakayoko from Monaco in 2017 and he has barely played for them since, going out on a series of loans or sitting on the bench.
He had by far his best loan spell at Milan, scoring one goal with one assist in 42 competitive games.
