When former Juventus star Carlos Tevez helped Boca Juniors win the Superliga Argentina, he also handed Roma legend Daniele De Rossi his first league title.
De Rossi has already retired from football after a limited stint in Argentina, halted by injuries. But his appearances for Boca Juniors in the Argentinian League, helped him win his first league title in his career.
The World Cup winner had picked up two Coppa Italia with Roma and a Supercoppa Italiana, but now the former captain can finally brag about winning a League title during his career.
The feat was underlined by the Argentine press, as Olé explained that the player has appeared in five matches in the League with Boca – 345 minutes in total – and therefore he picks up a medal despite having retired during the campaign.
Boca won their third title in four years when the former Bianconeri hero Tevez scored their only goal after 72 minutes against Diego Maradona’s Gimnasia La Plata.
River couldn’t match their win, as they were held to a draw by Atletico Tucuman and therefore Boca finished the season one point above their arch-rivals.
